Implementation Recommendations
As we've been talking about in our newsletters, many facets of implementing web strategy simply cannot be outsourced. For example, blogging is one area that clients must embrace and participate in for it to be valuable. This is one area where the agency can only advise and coach a client. We strive to enable agency partners to be able to coach their clients in blogging, but not implement it for them.
Search engine optimization (SEO) (beyond basic review and one-time upgrade advice) is also something clients must do for themselves. SEO is always dependent on an ongoing content development strategy which must come from the client. Again, agencies should be able to offer expert advice, but the client must implement the strategy. Clients need to ultimately embrace the ethics of engagement and participation for these kinds of activities to bear fruit.
While blogging and SEO cannot be effectively outsourced, there are some facets that clients can outsource through their agency. Search engine marketing and online advertising (SEM) can be managed by outside services. With regard to online advertising, Web Smart consulting provides ongoing deep reviews and recommendations (beyond what we offer in the newsletters) of the best SEM firms and online AdNetworks to consider for a client’s online advertising, blog advertising, video advertising, and upcoming mobile advertising campaigns. We provide these ongoing recommendations via a private tag feed for agency consulting partners. These feeds review providers of online advertising services, which agencies can then confidently use for their clients' online advertising campaigns.
Web Strategy Consulting for Client Strategies
As part of our initial consulting engagement, Newfangled will review and advise on up to three web strategies written by the agency partner within the first four months of our initial engagement. We then offer additional web strategy reviews, follow up visits to the agency to train and advise new employees, and update the agency on trends, tools, and technologies developed after the first engagement. Our web strategy review and advisory consulting is available only to Web Smart Agency Consulting partners.
Eric Holter, Newfangled's founder and CEO (that's me) performs all the advisory functions of Web Smart Agency Consulting. While I do not perform implementation of strategies, I perform all the preliminary evaluations, on-site training, and ongoing support and client strategy reviews. I will make expert recommendations for strategy implementations and continue to make agency partners aware of technology, tools, trends, and service providers through the newsletter, blog, and private tag feed.

Client's also likes to have a single point of contact and consider companies who are able to handle the whole project management or have a holistic offering of products and services. |
