I recently joined Peter Gerritsen, president of Taan Worldwide, for a video chat on a range of issues related to the work we at Newfangled do building marketing-driven web platforms for marketing agencies and their clients. We covered some pretty interesting topics, so I thought Iā€™d share the transcript of our discussion here, broken out into three parts (or, if you prefer, you can catch the full video here). In this first post, Peter and I talk about some of the most common issues we see with agency websites today.   more

Is WordPress the only viable CMS choice? When you make a decision about who's going to build your next website, are you making a technology decision, a relationship decision, or both? How portable is a site that's perfectly tailored to your needs?  In this installment of Casual Fridays, Chris and I might bring up more questions than we answer, but at least they're interesting questions.   more

We've come up with a solution in the form of a new consulting service.   more

I was emailing recently with an agency partner and she, somewhat out of nowhere, decided to let me know how she felt about working with us and about the strategic choices we've made over the years. A long time ago we set a goal for ourselves to be the best (and best known) small agency web development partner in North America. If I were to craft an aspiational fictitious agency principal testimonial, it would have lookd a whole lot like this. Here's what she had to say...   more

All things considered, Google Analytics is the best web analytics tool on the market. It is free to use and easy to install on your site, so there is no excuse not to have it. Every site you build for yourself or your clients should have Google Analytics installed from the day it goes live. Once you have it installed, the next crucial step is to log in to it and pay attention to what the data is telling you. That is where things get difficult for some people.   more
