Newfangled's SelectEdit: The Modest Budget Hero
SelectEdit provides site-wide content management in a way that minimizes project costs. SelectEdit is not a template approach to web development; each SelectEdit site is custom designed and developed. The lower project costs come from changing one aspect of how we build sites. Instead of customizing every page's editing screen to match the
content (as we do for Newfangled sites), we've devised a single page editing structure used for all pages in SelectEdit sites.
In essence, we've removed the involvement of the application programmer, and that saves a lot of money. There are some limitations, however. Most of our website applications are not compatible with SelectEdit sites (basic calendar and password protected content are available for SelectEdit). There are also a few subtle design rules that need to be followed, but the critical function of content management is delivered - at a very affordable price.
Because Newfangled believes that content management is fundamental to all website effectiveness, we believe that small companies, sole proprietors, and non-profits that don't often have budgets to cover the typical cost of a content management system should not be left out. In fact, smaller companies often rely more on their website for marketing than larger corporations, who can lean on big advertising budgets.
