Enjoy your work
Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat, to drink and enjoy oneself in all one's labor in which he toils under the sun during the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward. Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God. For he will not often consider the years of his life, because God keeps him occupied with the gladness of his heart. Ecclesiastes 5:18
Satisfaction in one's work is among the greatest attainments in life. It's too bad that so many of us waste years seeking more money, more success, and more awards rather than enjoying the work and the rewards we've already received from our labor. I often have to make a concerted effort to pause and enjoy all the benefits I've gained from my toiling in business. Gladness is not automatic; I have to be empowered with the capacity to enjoy my work. This comes through the means of intentionally enjoying the fruits of my labor. How fitting it is to celebrate a new piece of business by taking my wife out to dinner! next >
