Yelp! Get the local lowdown...

misc Since I only recently moved to Chapel Hill, any information I can get about the area is helpful. Yesterday, I discovered Yelp, a website for posting reviews of local restaurants, attractions, businesses, etc. While enormous cultural centers, like New York City, have a much more comprehensive listing of reviews (for example, over 4500 restaurant reviews and 1034 shopping reviews), even small cities like our own Chapel Hill have a pretty decent amount of their own. By the way, in a span of 10 minutes, the restaurant listings in New York City grew by 200 reviews. Wow!

Why I switched from Flickr to Picasa Web Albums

misc Last year I signed up for a Pro Flickr account. This year I started using Picasa Web Albums instead.

[As a disclaimer, I am probably not fitting of the ideal demographic for either of these online photo sharing tools. I am not a professional photographer, nor really even a digital photo enthusiast. (My wife and I take lots of pictures, but are under no illusion that they are compelling or interesting to others.) However, I do use these tools to share images of my sketchbook and other drawings with some of my art-school friends.]
