What Newfangled eats

November 16, 2006 at 4:34 pm by BAZAR

Eric loves steak. Any steak, any way, he loves it. Ruth's Chris is his favorite, but I secretly think he has yet to discover the paramount of steak's favorite. He also doesn't like wine, and I don't think you can truly taste great steak without great wine.

Dave likes stuff. Not much stuff, but always more stuff than you think he will like. He is somehow open-minded and overly opinionated at the same time.

Jim likes phoood, but only as long as you call it by his own name for it. Most of those names I'm not comfortable mentioning here, but they're pretty great. He'll pretty much eat anything that tastes great, but he is partial to LOBSTAHS.

Mike has grown up a lot over the years, as has Eric. Mike now likes raisins, beer, and numerous avocado-based foods. We are very proud of Mike.

Forrest seems to be a forager. I say that not because of the wonderful onomatopoeiacness of it but just because I think it is true. He is also the most likely person to correct my use of onomatopoeia or use it in Scrabble, were it possible.

Fruity (aka Brian) likes everything and anything sugar-based. Truly.

Scott is my gourmand in arms. And while that isn't as interesting as it sounds, we have a great time and will eat anything and everything that might possibly be good or interesting. Anthony Bourdain has taught us well.

Justin likes food, too - quite a bit of it. He is a forager like Forrest, but he has a wife who makes crazy desserts that are super saturated in sugar. It is a shame that she and Fruity have never met.

I am still getting to know Greg's pallet. I've eaten Chinese with him a few times, and he was more than pedestrian in his ordering at least one of those times. I have yet to hear him turn something down or say he doesn't like something, so he is definitely innocent until proven guilty.

B-Rock, like Jim, loves LOBSTAHS and steamers, quahogs, fried clams, clam cakes (+chowder), calamari, littlenecks, and anything else that comes out of Narragansett Bay. Long live Steve.

Chris has vegetarian tendencies, which I can respect having had them myself in my 8 years of being a somewhat militant vegetarian. BUT, I can respect Chris forever because despite his wish to do no harm, he ate hush puppies once. Yes, he ate hush puppies once after Eric and I convinced him that they were, in fact, cornmeal-encrusted puppy paws. Who could be more adventurous than that?

Spot (office dog) loves everything a lot. Except for some raw vegetables, which makes him a lot like Eric.

That would be alliteration.
